All prices are in Japanese Yen, per room per night

Minimum 3-night stay for the 2025-26 period. Rooms that become available for shorter periods will be shown on the website and if you would like to book these dates, you must contact the lodge via email.

When you book online, 50% of your total reservation will be charged to your card and the remaining balance will be due 60 days from check-in.

Yama Madarao is a non-smoking lodge. Smoking is prohibited anywhere inside the lodge as well as around the hotel entrances.

Check-in 3pm and check-out 10am. If you arrive before check in we can store your bags, likewise, if you wish to enjoy the mountain on your departure day we can store your bags after you check-out until the time you are ready to leave.

A no-show is defined as a circumstance where you do not check-in or notify us by 9pm on the anticipated day of your arrival. In this instance, there will be no refund. If you are running late or there is an emergency, please let us know as soon as you can so we don’t release your room.

Cancellation policy:

• If you cancel at least 60 days before your arrival date, full refund​

• If you cancel 45-59 days before your arrival date, 50% refund

• If you cancel within 44 days of your arrival date, no refund​

All cancellations must be received in writing and any refunds exclude exchange rate variations as well as bank fees and charges.

Any refunds (if applicable) will be made to the credit card you used in your original booking

If you need to change your dates and we have availability, we are happy to move your reservation. Subsequent changes may be subject to an administration charge of JY5,000

Complimentary continental breakfast with hot option is included in the room rate. Served between 7-9 am it consists of tea/coffee/juice, rice, cereal, toast, spreads, and a hot option which changes daily. We will do our best to accommodate dietary restrictions but you must inform us of these in advance as it is not always easy to change menus on short notice. All day tea/coffee and steamed rice available. 

Online booking platforms are great, but they lack the human touch. Sometimes computer systems make bookings which while confirming a room type for the entirety of your reservation, might have you swapping rooms part-way through your stay. This is because the computer system looks at availability as a whole across that particular room type. If this affects your booking we will contact you shortly after receiving the reservation to discuss options. We reserve the right to pass on a special cleaning levy if your room is left in an unacceptable state. This includes damage (intentional or accidental), and bodily discharges of any kind.

For the comfort of fellow guests, we request that you please keep noise to a minimum before 7am and after 10pm

Our kitchen is not for guest use. We offer a dinner shuttle service to the Madarao Mountain restaurant of your choice, though these shuttles must be booked with reception and operate strictly between the hours of 6pm -9pm. Outside these hours you can use the lodge umbrellas to ward off snow.

Lastly, at Yama Lodge we try to be as environmentally considerate as possible within the bounds of our operations. Part of this includes heating the lodge. Each room has an air-conditioning/heating unit, and there are other heating units throughout the lodge. To help maintain our commitment to the environment, we would be grateful if in-room air conditioners/heaters are set at 20 degrees celsius. The common areas will be warmer than this.
